Step 1: From within the Mail Reader, select from Main Menu->Options->Accounts. |
Step 2: You will now see the "Choose Email Account" window. You may edit an existing account by right clicking on the mail account with the mouse, and selecting Properties, or you may create a new account by selecting New Account, or just click the New Account button. |
You will now see the "Email Setup" window. This window has two sections. The upper section, has the Connection Name, and Presets fields. The lower section consists of three tabs: Receive Mail Settings, Send Mail Settings, and Options. Step 3: The Connection Name field, is where the name of the account is entered. This can be any name that you wish to give this account. The Presets field, has a drop down window where you can choose different email providers such as Yahoo, AOL, Runbox, Bluehost. If you use one of the Pre-set providers, the Mail Reader will populate the Host and Port fields for both the Receive Mail Settings and Send Mail Settings tabs, with the appropriate settings for that provider. If you don't have an account with one of the pre-sets, you will need to enter your hosting information, username, password, etc... which can be obtained from your Email Provider. |
Step 4: The first tab is the Receive Mail Settings. The correct settings entered here will allow the Mail Reader to receive mail. The first field is Type, and refers to connection type. There are two options available, Pop3 and IMAP. Check with your email provider to determine the best connection type for you. The Host is the mail server where Mail Reader will receive the mail from. Username, password, Port, and whether you check the "Use a secured connection (SSL) are determined by the email provider. Contact your email provider for these settings. If Presets field was used for setting up the account, Port and Host will be populated for you. You may select the "Test" button to ensure the settings are correct. |
Step 5: The second tab is the Send Mail Settings. The correct settings entered here will allow Email Action Items to be sent from ContactTalk. Email cannot be sent directly from the Mail Reader. Host, Username, Password, Port, Authentication, and "Use a secured connection (SSL) " are determined by your email provider. Contact your email provider for these settings. The From Name field will be populated by the name that you want the email to be from. The "Your Email Address" and "Reply To Address" will be populated by the email address given to you by your email provider. Some email providers only allow a certain number of email to pass through their mail servers. The Throttle option, will only allow the number of email chosen, to be sent from this account per hour. |
Step 6: The third tab is the Options tab, and contains a text field called "Don't import messages that contain this text in the subject". When you enter text here, any email received, where the subject line contains that text, will not be imported. When the "Remove messages not associated with a contact after __ days" is checked, Mail Reader will delete from the program after the specified number of days. |
