The Email Action Item is a template that defines an Email that you want to send to contact(s) and/or groups.

You can create Email in text or HTML format and include attachments. The subject and body of the Email may contain tags that represent fields within the contact table. When the Email Action Item is assigned to a contact, these tags get replaced with information about the contact it represents.

Each Email Action Item must be assigned a method to send the Email.  You can choose to send the Email through Outlook Express or directly via SMTP.  The SMTP method is preferred because ContactTalk has more control over the Email process and content i.e. can tell if the Email was sent successfully and will not have problems sending HTML formatted documents with embedded images.
