The ContactTalk Mail Reader is designed to read Email directly from most Email servers. The mail reader does not send mail but simply gathers messages and puts them into a database that can be accessed by ContactTalk.
NOTE: The Mail Reader DOES NOT pull your email from the server - it simply reads it. Therefore, you will still be able to see the same messages via whatever email provider you use. To open the Mail Reader, select Contact -> Email from ContactTalk's main menu. If you wish to send email, ContactTalksends email ONLY through an Email Action Item or by double clicking on the Contact's email address within the Contact Details Form. The mail reader will also attempt to create new contacts by reading Email as it's received and applying a mail map to it.

MAIL READER CONTENTS
|
A mail map tells the mail reader what Emails to look for and how to extract information from them. The information extracted always pertains to a contact. If a new Email contains a subject that matches a mail map, the mail reader will apply the mail map to the new message. Once the information has been extracted from the message, the mail reader will check to see if the contact information pertains to a new contact or an existing one. If the information does not match an existing contact then a new contact is created. If the gathered information matches an existing contact then the information is updated based on settings defined in the mail map. The Mail Reader is found on ContactTalk's Main Menu under Tools->Mail Reader. |
