To Delete a Schedule Resource Column, right click in the desired column Event Window and select Columns->Delete. Make sure the delete dialog box is about to delete the correct Schedule Resource Column and click yes.

A dialog box will appear as below so that you can choose whether to move the events from the deleted column to another column or just delete the events completely.  Select yes if you wish to move the events and no if you want to delete the events.
